To object to any mining permit, or to request a public hearing about it, write to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). In your letter, include your name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of your objection. Mail your letter to the appropriate PA-DEP office--the offices vary by county.
Blacksville
Summary:
CMAP#30841312
Purpose of Application: 28.7 acres of surface land will be affected, in order to permit 30 degasification boreholes.
Areas Affected: Within the 100' variance area of Block House Run and an unnamed tributary to Block House Run.

Location: Deemston, Washington County.

Mine 84
Summary:
CMAP# 63831302
Purpose of Application: Construction of 3900 feet of buried eight-inch pipeline of slurry from Preparation Plant to two proposed borehole sites of an underground mine.
Affected land: 5.6 acres of land along the path of the buried pipeline.
Bailey Mine
1. Summary:
CMAP#30810703
Purpose of Permit: To add approximately 88 acres of surface permit area for construction of approximately 7,600 linear feet of coal refuse. Blasting may be conducted during site grading activities.
Location: Richhill Township, Greene County; south of the existing Bailey Central Mine Complex and north of S.R. 4007 (Ackley Creek Road).
Comments/Objections can be mailed until August 20, 2008 to: the Department of Environmental Protection, District Mining Operations.
2. Summary:
CMAP#30810703
Purpose of Permit: To renew the existing permit, which is set to expire on January 10, 2009. The permit area consists of 519 acres and is approximately situated 3700 feet southwest of the intersection of SR 3026 and SR 4013 at Simpson's Store.
The renewal does not include any changes to the original permit (besides the additional permit #30810703 above).
Comments can be written to the DEP, Califormia office until August 30,2008.
3. Summary:

Purpose of Application: addition of 330 acres to the
underground permit area; addition of 117 acres to an underground subsidence control plan area
for development mining.

Purpose of Application: To renew the existing permit that is set to expire on November 25, 2008. The permit area consists of 556.6 acres and is approximately situated 1.5 miles north of the intersection of SR 21 and SR 4007 in Graysville, PA.
No changes are proposed in the permit renewal.

Cumberland Mine
Summary:

Current Permit: 22,124 underground acres and 379.47 surface acres.
Purpose of Application: Revision to add 4,677 underground permit and subsidence control plan permit acres.
Method of Mining: Continuous mining (development) and longwall mining.
Coal Seam: Pittsburgh Coal
Average Proposed Mining Height: 6 feet
Depth of Cover Range : Minimum of 560 feet to a maximum of 1175 feet with an average of 867 feet for the proposed additional area.
Estimated Life of Mine : 15 to 20 years
